PSX Announces Trading and Settlement Schedule for November 2024

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has detailed its trading and settlement schedule for the Ready Market (T+2) for November 2024, encompassing transaction and settlement dates that investors and market participants should note for effective planning.

The schedule starts from November 1, 2024, with transactions set to take place almost daily throughout the month. Each trading day’s transactions are planned to settle two business days later, following the T+2 settlement system which is standard practice in most global markets. This system allows two days after a transaction is executed for the process to be finalized or ‘settled’.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), this detailed scheduling is part of PSX’s commitment to maintaining an orderly market with clear guidelines for trading activities. For example, a transaction made on Monday, November 4, is scheduled for settlement on Wednesday, November 6. The schedule is designed to help participants manage their trading strategies more effectively, ensuring they are aware of the exact settlement dates.

PSX has also noted that the dates provided are subject to change should any operational or financial circumstances arise. The Exchange retains the right to alter or vary the trading dates as necessary. If any settlement is postponed for any reason, such as public holidays or system issues, it will take place on the next working day.

This systematic approach helps in reducing the risk of defaults and enhances the efficiency of the clearing and settlement process, crucial for the overall stability and liquidity of the financial market.
