PTCL Announces Eighth Extraordinary General Meeting to Elect New Directors

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has announced that its Eighth Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) is set to be held on November 6, 2024. The meeting, convened in Islamabad, will focus on the election of directors for a new three-year term and the confirmation of minutes from the previous Annual General Meeting.

The forthcoming EGM is of particular significance as it includes the election of nine directors, adhering to the stipulations set forth in Article 62 of the Articles of Association of the company. The election process follows the retirement of the current directors, whose terms are scheduled to conclude at the end of October 2024. According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the transparency and governance with which elections are conducted are crucial for maintaining investor confidence in PTCL.

The retiring board members include Mr. Azfar Manzoor, Mr. Jawad Paul Khawaja, Mr. Abdulrahim A. Al Nooryani, Dr. Mohamed Karim Bennis, Mr. Khalid Murshed, Mr. Imdad Ullah Bosal, Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema, Ms. Brooke Marie Lindsay, and Mr. Khaled Hegazy. These individuals have been instrumental in guiding PTCL through a period marked by significant technological advancements and market challenges.

The confirmation of minutes from the 29th Annual General Meeting, held on May 28, 2024, will also be a key item on the agenda, ensuring that all decisions made and recorded are accurately implemented.
