Srinagar, May 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the police have questioned over a dozen persons so far in connection with the recent killing of two persons including an Assistant Sub-Inspector of police in Pulwama district.
The persons, including those present at the spot where the ASI was killed, were questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the police. Headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, the SIT was constituted to probe the killing of the police officer and an imam at two different locations in the district on Friday.
“Investigations are going on. So far there is no concrete lead but we are hopeful that the case will be cracked soon,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police South Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar, told media men. He said that the police were soon going to start an operation in Pulwama.
A police official, privy to the investigation, said that more than a dozen persons were questioned in connection with the killings. “They (people) were called to a police station and later released after sustained questioning,” he said.
