Punjab Bar Council Distances Itself from PTI’s Political Propaganda

Lahore: The Punjab Bar Council has distanced itself from political propaganda by PTI, clarifying that recent statements issued by some of its members reflect their personal views and do not represent the collective position of the Council or the wider legal fraternity.

According to Radio Pakistan, in a statement, the Council emphasized that a few individuals cannot impose their views on the majority or the institution as a whole in a democratic body. The statement urged bar councils, bar associations, and their representatives to avoid making statements on sub judice matters that could influence judicial proceedings, undermine institutional independence, or affect public confidence.

The Council further stated that bar platforms must not be used for personal, political, or partisan purposes and that it does not support statements or conduct aimed at creating divisions within the legal fraternity. The Punjab Bar Council reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law, independence of the judiciary, and respect for all constitutional and legal institutions.
