Punjab CM Decides to Run 5000 Electric Buses in Next Five Years

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has decided to run 5,000 electric buses across the province over the next five years.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Chief Minister chaired a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department in Lahore, where she announced that Punjab has started assembling electric buses locally. The initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance public transportation and reduce environmental impact through sustainable practices.

The meeting approved the first phase of deploying 1,500 electric buses, which will serve 91 tehsils across the province. As part of the initial rollout, 189 new buses are ready for launch. An additional 488 buses are expected to arrive from China later this month, further reinforcing the province’s commitment to modernizing its public transport infrastructure.
