Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority Holds Inaugural Meeting Under Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Leadership

Lahore: The Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority convened its first official meeting, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The meeting resulted in several key decisions, including the establishment of para offices, rules for appointments, and the creation of four committees aimed at ensuring effective regulation.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the meeting focused on setting up a transparent and merit-based hiring process for the authority. A monitoring system was proposed to enhance the efficiency of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority. The meeting approved the formation of four committees: Administration Legal Committee, Finance Committee, Legal Committee, and Technical Committee. A target was set to make the authority operational within three months.

Approval was granted for various positions at the headquarters, division, district, and tehsil levels, including roles such as Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officer and Investigation Officer. Additionally, a policy for the transfer and deputation of staff was agreed upon. The meeting also sanctioned the appointment of a hearing officer for enforcement station appeals and outlined a plan for procurement, including decisions on vehicles, uniforms, and branding. A special committee will be set up to review the operation and regulation of the authority in 2024.
