Punjab Government Bans Manufacturing of Petrol Motorcycle Rickshaws in Province

Lahore: The Punjab Government has announced a ban on the production of petrol motorcycle rickshaws across the province. This decision was reached during a special meeting of the Cabinet Committee held in Lahore, presided over by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting included a comprehensive briefing on efforts to combat smog and enhance air quality in Lahore and other cities. In line with these environmental objectives, the committee also resolved to gradually phase out the production of petrol motorcycles in the region.

To further promote sustainability, it was decided that only electric vehicles and motorbikes will be utilized in government departments. Additionally, a complete ban has been imposed on washing cars at home to conserve water resources.

As part of the meeting’s outcomes, the committee also approved the installation of colored dustbins throughout the province, aligning with practices observed in modern cities worldwide.
