Punjab Govt Imposes Complete Ban on Petrol, Diesel Vehicles for Govt Departments

Lahore: Punjab government has decided to impose a complete ban on purchase of petrol and diesel vehicles for government departments with a vision to promote environment-friendly transportation.

According to Radio Pakistan, only electric or hybrid vehicles will be approved for purchase, however vehicles used in field duty will be exempted from the new restriction. In a meeting in Lahore today, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said the decision has been taken under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to promote a cleaner and greener Punjab.

Approval of NOCs for new petrol pumps will now be subject to mandatory installation of electric charging units, stated the Chief Secretary Punjab.
