Punjab Intensifies Population Management Efforts: Mazhar Iqbal

Lahore: District Population Officer Mazhar Iqbal has stated that the Punjab Health and Population Department is ramping up its initiatives to manage population growth through comprehensive measures across the province. In an interview with Radio Pakistan’s correspondent Qasim Bukhari, he highlighted the department’s commitment to addressing this pressing issue.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Directorate General Population Welfare, Health and Population Department is organizing a Youth Conference aimed at raising awareness among young people. The conference’s primary objective is to educate attendees about the adverse effects of unchecked population growth and the critical importance of family planning in achieving sustainable national development.

Mazhar Iqbal called on the media to actively support the Health and Population Department’s awareness campaign on population management, emphasizing the vital role of media cooperation in paving the way for the country’s sustainable development. He underscored that, despite limited resources, the continuously increasing population poses a significant challenge to national progress. Pakistan currently ranks as the fifth most populous country globally, with a population exceeding 241 million.
