Punjab Minister Acts to Save Endangered Dolphin Caught in Fishermen’s Nets

Lahore, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has responded urgently to an incident where a dolphin was caught in fishermen’s nets at Chachdan Sharif Khanpur in the Indus River. Following the circulation of a video on social media showcasing the dolphin caught in the nets, the minister directed immediate wildlife department action to rescue the endangered animal.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the incident led to a prompt mobilization of the wildlife department to the site. Minister Aurangzeb has ordered an awareness campaign in the area to educate the public about the conservation of the rare blind dolphin species found in the Indus River. She emphasized the importance of protecting such wildlife and has initiated legal action against the perpetrators involved in the conflict with the wildlife rescue team.
