Punjab Police Boosts Support for Children of Officers Battling Thalassemia

Lahore: In a concerted effort to address the medical needs of children suffering from Thalassemia, Punjab Police, under the leadership of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, has significantly enhanced financial and medical support for the affected families within the force.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 15 October 2024, Dr. Usman Anwar has overseen the disbursement of the third-quarter health allowances, totaling six million nine hundred fifty-three thousand rupees, to support 154 thalassemic children of police employees. Each child is allocated fifteen thousand rupees monthly, aimed at covering medical expenses from July to September, which adds up to forty-five thousand rupees per child for the quarter.

The initiative includes partnerships with key medical institutions such as Sundas, Fatimid, and Al-Noor Foundation to ensure regular and reliable blood transfusions, crucial for the treatment of Thalassemia. Dr. Anwar stressed the importance of employing the latest treatment methods and research protocols to provide the best possible care for these children.

Furthering his commitment, Dr. Anwar highlighted the “Hamaray Phool” project, urging police personnel to register their children with medical challenges to receive comprehensive support. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure that children affected by Thalassemia not only receive necessary medical attention but are also supported in continuing their education and leading fulfilling lives.
