Karachi: The Punjab Police have achieved significant success at the Second Extreme Handgun Championship in Karachi, securing silver medals in both the individual and team categories. This competition, a collaboration between the Special Security Unit Karachi and the International Police Organization, drew participants from various Pakistani forces and included international attendees.
According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 07 September 2024, Head Constable Iftikhar Khan from Mianwali Police was awarded a silver medal in the law enforcement individual category. The Punjab Police team, facing tough competition from groups such as the Navy Seals, ASF Sky Marshals, Rapid Response Force, and others, showcased formidable skill in the event, which also saw participation from Russian diplomats and civilians.
The team included prominent members such as Sub-Inspector Samiullah Khan Niazi, the Shooting Manager for Punjab Police, alongside Sub-Inspector Yasir Ali Joiya and ASI Azam Virk. Additional team members from the Special Operations Unit were Head Constables Iftikhar Khan and Shakeel Ahmed, and Constable Muhammad Javed, with CTD’s Mansoor Khan Niazi, Zubair Ahmed Dhillon, and Bilal Abdullah also contributing to the team’s performance.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar praised the officers for their performance, highlighting that such competitions are vital for enhancing and refining the officers’ abilities alongside their professional duties. He expressed pride in their ability to compete at a national level and bring laurels to the force.
