Punjab to Become Hub of Advanced Genetic Testing: CM Maryam

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met with China’s BGI Group Chairman Wang Jian in Lahore to discuss a proposed MoU on cancer treatment and genetic research. The meeting aimed at fostering a public-private partnership to establish the Center of Excellence for Genetic Science and Biological Gene Bank in Punjab.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions also included plans for setting up a gene sequencing unit at Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital. This initiative is expected to enhance the region’s capabilities in genetic research and treatment options.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that by utilizing modern genetic technology for cancer diagnosis and treatment, Punjab will position itself as a hub of advanced genetic testing. This development is anticipated to bring significant advancements in the healthcare sector, particularly in the field of genetic science.
