Radio Pakistan and PTV Set for Major Overhaul: Info Minister

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced significant transformations for Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television (PTV), emphasizing the return of international sports events to the country.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar highlighted the honor of hosting the International Cricket Council’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Speaking to media representatives, he noted the positive development of international events returning to the nation after several years of inactivity.

Tarar pointed out the past neglect of sports fields in Pakistan, which often appeared deserted. However, he expressed optimism with the upcoming mega sports event following the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.

The Minister also discussed the recent improvements at PTV Sports, noting an increase in ratings. He credited timely payments for ICC telecast rights as a key factor enabling PTV to broadcast all ICC matches.

Tarar announced plans to feature a panel of cricket experts, including Shoaib Akhtar and Shoaib Malik, on PTV. He emphasized efforts to rejuvenate the PTV Sports channel through transparent operations.

Anticipating a positive change, Tarar also mentioned upcoming transformations at Radio Pakistan. He praised the introduction of an efficient online pension system and the identification and removal of ghost employees, saving public funds. He advocated for similar systems to be implemented across other departments.
