Rajouri Residents Demand Resumption of Bridge Construction, Warn of Highway Blockade

Jammu: In the Rajouri district of the Jammu region in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, frustration boiled over as hundreds of local residents protested the prolonged halt in construction of the essential Badala-Mang bridge. The demonstrators, feeling neglected by Indian authorities, decried the significant inconveniences caused by the absence of this critical infrastructure in the Peer Panjal area.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest was spearheaded by social activists Hema Kant Sharma and Nazam Mir. The gathering highlighted the local authorities’ neglect, having left the bridge project incomplete for over five years. The Badala-Mang bridge, intended to link the Rajouri-Jammu highway with the Panj Peer area, remains unfinished, exacerbating traffic congestion and significantly increasing travel distances for the community.

Sharma and Mir pointed out the severe repercussions of the stalled project on daily life, emphasizing the resultant traffic snarls and elongated commutes. The protesters issued a stern warning to the authorities, stating that if construction does not resume soon, they will intensify their actions, potentially leading to a blockade of the critical Jammu-Poonch Highway.
