Religious Leaders Unite to Advocate for Children’s Education and Protection

Islamabad: Religious leaders and scholars of different faiths have agreed on the importance of raising awareness regarding children’s education, protection, and emotional and mental development. They were participating in a consultative meeting in Islamabad today, presided over by Federal Secretary Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Dr. Syed Ata ur Rehman.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting was organized in collaboration with UNICEF and Islamic Relief Pakistan and also highlighted the need to address factors contributing to child labour and early marriages. The participants underscored that the inclusion of religious leaders in efforts to raise awareness about child protection can yield meaningful and lasting results.

Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology Dr. Raghib Naeemi informed the meeting that following the Zainab case, the council issued several recommendations regarding legislation and prevention of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse of children.
