Renowned KEMA Labs of The Netherlands conducts Capacity Building Workshop for National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited Engineers

Lahore, November 17, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Netherlands KEMA Laboratories conducted two days capacity building workshop for NTDC Engineers here in a local hotel at Lahore, today. The purpose of the workshop was to make NTDC a modernized and reliable Transmission System Operator of the world.

In his welcome address, Managing Director NTDC Dr Fiaz A. Chaudhry said that increasing demand of electricity in the country requires a considerable quantum of power to cater for. Consequently, NTDC is building a huge infrastructure of transmissions lines and grid stations for evacuation of power from upcoming power generation facilities in 2017-18.

Thus, the capacity building of human resource and all spheres of NTDC is inevitable for having a real professional team. He thanked the experts of KEMA labs and said that NTDC will fetch adequate consultants from international firms to impart professional prowess, technical know-how, network expansion and reliability improvement of the company.

During his presentation, the Country Manager KEMA Labs Mr Kashif Rehman said that this training workshop would provide all the assistance to understand the future challenges and their solutions. NTDC is backbone of the power sector of the country and economy revolves around it. It is very important to bring NTDC transmission network as most reliable, sustainable and modernized utility of the world.

The KEMA Labs have more than 150 year history and are well-known independent laboratories for testing and certification of medium and high voltage components used in the electrical infrastructure (transmission lines and grid stations). The KEMA experts delivered their presentations on technical aspects of Next Generation SCADA – Provisions for Smart Grid, Asset Management (following ISO 55000), Application of ERP Systems in Transmission Companies and Testing and Certification of Transmission and Distribution Equipments. GM Technical NTDC also presented an over view of NTDC and developments in the power sector. Reps of Asian Development Bank, All GMs, CEs and other NTDC officers attended the workshop.
