Residents Protest Inaction in Flood Crisis in Bandipora, Block Major Road

Srinagar: In the wake of severe flooding, residents of Bandipora district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have publicly demonstrated their dissatisfaction with the local authorities’ lack of timely action. The community’s unrest culminated in a significant protest where both men and women took part, effectively blocking a major roadway in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstrators, comprising a cross-section of Bandipora’s populace, congregated along the Sopore-Sumbal road in Hajin. Their primary demand was swift action from the authorities to recover the body of a minor boy, a recent victim who drowned in a nullah located in Sopore. The tragic incident has escalated local grievances, as the community criticizes the slow response of the search and rescue teams tasked with recovering the boy.

The protest not only highlights the immediate tragedy but also underscores the community’s broader frustrations and grief over what they perceive as persistent negligence from the authorities in response to the flood crisis in the district.
