Restrictions on Funeral Prayers Unacceptable: Agha Moosvi.

Srinagar: Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader and President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hasan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, has strongly condemned the restrictions imposed on the funeral in absentia for the late Mirwaiz Muhammad Ahmad Shah at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid, as well as the condolence gathering at Mirwaiz Manzil.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Moosvi in a statement issued in Srinagar described these restrictions as an “unjustifiable interference in religious matters,” which he stated was “intolerable.”

Expressing his deep dismay, Syed Agha Hasan noted that the reality of the so-called “Naya Kashmir” is that even gatherings to honor esteemed figures are disallowed, and places of worship, like the Jamia Masjid, are locked to prevent prayers in absentia.

He condemned this approach in the strongest terms, emphasizing that such restrictions on religious rites are unacceptable.
