Islamabad: Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh praised the American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG) for its work in promoting Pakistani heritage at a luncheon hosted by the organization in New York. The event, attended by prominent local leaders including State Senator John Liu, New York Assembly member David Weprin, and Council member Linda Lee, provided a platform to discuss cultural and social opportunities for the Pakistani-American community.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ambassador highlighted APAG’s contributions to fostering a positive Pakistani identity within American society and underscored the significance of engaging with local representatives to advance educational, economic, and social prospects for the community.
As part of his visit, Ambassador Sheikh joined APAG office bearers at the newly dedicated “Allama Iqbal Avenue” in Richmond Hill, Queens, a street named in honor of Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Iqbal. He recognized the avenue’s designation as a meaningful symbol of Pakistan’s cultural heritage in New York City, emphasizing its role in fortifying ties between Pakistan and the United States.
The Ambassador commended APAG for its ongoing efforts in securing this honor, stating that it serves as a point of pride for the Pakistani diaspora and strengthens cross-cultural connections between the two nations.
