Islamabad: The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) continued its downward trend against major international currencies on September 23, 2025, according to data released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan. The PKR depreciated notably against the US dollar, closing at 282.45, compared to 281.92 at the opening.
The Euro also saw gains against the weakening PKR, rising from 332.12 to 335.29. The British Pound followed a similar trajectory, appreciating from 381.32 to 384.81. The Japanese Yen, while showing a smaller shift, still strengthened against the PKR, moving from 1.88 to 1.93.
The PKR also struggled against regional currencies. The UAE Dirham climbed from 77.01 to 77.79, and the Saudi Riyal moved from 75.12 to 75.80. In interbank trading, the PKR closed at 281.62 against the US Dollar, down from 281.42 at the start of the day. These figures paint a concerning picture of the PKR’s performance in the foreign exchange market.
