Dharamsala: In a striking revelation, Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh has accused the former BJP government in Himachal Pradesh of financing the construction of a controversial Masjid in Sanjauli, alleging it was part of a deliberate strategy to incite communal tension.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the minister disclosed that the BJP administration had allocated approximately Rs 200,000 under the planning head in 2019 to support the Masjid’s construction. He shared these details while speaking alongside Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh, where both officials criticized the BJP for its role in politicizing the issue and fueling protests.
Further allegations surfaced as Singh outlined that the construction of three additional floors of the mosque occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic, a period when the BJP held significant local power, including the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in the Municipal Corporation. He challenged the BJP’s stance by pointing to their own governance during the controversial construction period, underscoring a disconnect between their actions and their public criticisms.
