School Building in Kulgam District Converted into Cowshed

Srinagar: A school building has been converted into a cowshed in the Khudwani area of Kulgam district, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, drawing criticism and concern from local residents.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the structure, constructed to promote education, has been abandoned for years and is now being used to shelter cattle. Locals expressed outrage over the neglect, lamenting the misuse of a facility intended for the educational development of their community.

Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) of Qaimoh, Maqbool Ahmad Wani, acknowledged his lack of awareness regarding the issue. “Now that I have been informed, I have raised the matter with the Tehsildar of Qaimoh, who assured me of immediate action to clear the premises,” Wani said.

The incident has spotlighted the poor maintenance of educational infrastructure in the territory, with residents urging authorities to restore the building to its original purpose and ensure better oversight in the future.
