SDPI Demands Arrest of BJP Leader Krishna Naik for Inflammatory Remarks.

Bengaluru: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has called for the immediate arrest of BJP leader Krishna Naik following his inflammatory comments targeting the Muslim community.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a recent rally in Bhatkal, Naik, who serves as the MLA from Hoovina Hadagali Assembly constituency in Vijayanagar district, made statements suggesting that Muslims are merely “tenants” in India, implying that their rightful place is in Pakistan. He further asserted that the land owned by Muslims was “given to them in 1947” and warned that any claims to ownership could result in their expulsion to Pakistan, a task he provocatively claimed could be accomplished by the women of the community.

In response, SDPI has urged the police to take immediate action against Naik, cautioning that failure to do so could lead to escalated protests, potentially culminating in a siege of the police station, as reported by media outlets on Thursday.

The remarks were made during a BJP rally in Bhatkal, aimed at protesting what they claim to be the Congress government’s encroachment on farmers’ land under the guise of Waqf properties. The event was attended by several BJP figures, including former MLA Sunil Naik.

The speech quickly circulated on social media, leading to widespread condemnation and heightening tensions within the local Muslim population.

SDPI district president Taufeeq Beary expressed strong discontent with the police’s lack of response to Naik’s remarks. He questioned why no action had been taken against Naik and criticised local Congress leaders for their silence. Beary also challenged the police and intelligence agencies, questioning the absence of intervention during the protest where such inflammatory rhetoric was openly shared.
