Searle Company Targets Expansion Amid Strong Revenue Growth

Karachi: The Searle Company Limited (SEARL) held a corporate briefing session, unveiling a robust financial performance and strategic outlook. The company reported a 28% year-over-year revenue growth in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026 and is aiming for a 23% growth in volume and nearly 40% in value terms.

Over the past five years, Searle’s revenue has grown at a compound annual growth rate of 17%. Its top brands, including Extor and Nuberol, contribute significantly to its revenue streams, with Extor alone generating Rs4.5 billion.

With an 89% presence across pharmaceutical categories, Searle is a market leader in cardiovascular, gynecology, and cough suppressant categories. The company is the second-largest pharmaceutical exporter in Pakistan, exporting to 12 countries, and plans to expand exports to the UAE.

The company is also striving to become Pakistan’s leading biological pharmaceutical manufacturer. It currently produces four biological products and plans to launch five more, including the competitive pre-filled syringe form of Semaglutide.

Searle has diversified its active pharmaceutical ingredient sources, reducing reliance on India to 1-2%, with alternatives from China, Brazil, and Europe. The company anticipates the pharmaceutical industry will grow by 15-20%, with significant export growth expected to reach $3-4 billion by 2030.

Revenue from exports accounts for 11% of Searle’s total revenue, and the company is closely monitoring the impact of border closures with Afghanistan, which could affect full-year revenue by Rs2 billion if unresolved.

Management confirmed that the sale of a subsidiary is proceeding as planned, with completion expected by early 2027. The company has adopted an aggressive market strategy, aligning higher distribution expenses with revenue growth.

Analysts maintain a buy recommendation on SEARL, with current trading projections at FY26E/FY27F PE ratios of 16.4x and 11.2x, respectively.
