SECP Grants Dost Steels Limited Extension for AGM and Financial Statements Submission

Islamabad: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has approved an extension for Dost Steels Limited, allowing the company additional time to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and to submit its financial statements for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024. The extension, communicated in a letter dated October 11, 2024, moves the deadline to November 27, 2024.

The request for this extension, initially submitted by Dost Steels Limited on October 1, cites the need for additional time to prepare and audit the annual financial statements as stipulated under section 132 read with section 223 of the Companies Act, 2017. This legal framework provides the basis for the company to seek more time to ensure the accuracy and completeness of its financial disclosures.

According to information available from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the extension granted by the SECP underscores the regulatory body’s flexibility in accommodating the administrative challenges faced by companies in meeting statutory requirements. The letter from the SECP, signed by Assistant Director Oneeb Ahmed, emphasizes that the extension is granted without prejudice to any potential regulatory actions for non-compliance with the Act’s requirements.

The decision to grant this extension is part of SECP’s broader mandate to ensure that stakeholders are well-informed and that companies maintain high standards of transparency and accountability in their financial reporting. Dost Steels Limited, by availing of this extension, affirms its commitment to these principles, aiming to uphold investor confidence by ensuring meticulous financial reporting.
