Senator Irfan Siddiqui Criticizes PTI for Provincial Resource Misuse Against Federation

Islamabad: Irfan Siddiqui, Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Senate, has issued a strong rebuke of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for what he describes as the misuse of provincial resources to undermine the federal government. This criticism comes amid escalating tensions between the federal and provincial governments in Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Siddiqui expressed his concerns via a post on his official X-handle, where he highlighted the unprecedented nature of a federating unit attacking the federation under the leadership of its Chief Minister. He noted that although there have been instances in the past where different parties, including the PML-N and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), controlled different parts of the federation and provinces, there has never been a direct confrontation initiated by a provincial government against the central authority.

Siddiqui’s comments underscore the growing political divide in Pakistan, particularly between the incumbent federal government and provincial governments led by opposition parties like PTI. This confrontation raises concerns about the stability and unity of the federation amid ongoing political strife.
