Senator Khalid and ADB Director Fan Discuss Enhancing Skill Development Initiatives for BISP Beneficiaries

Islamabad: At the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) headquarters, Senator Rubina Khalid, chairperson of BISP, met with Ms. Emma Fan, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to discuss strengthening cooperation between their organizations. The meeting focused on expanding skill development opportunities, facilitating international certifications, and integrating provincial poverty alleviation initiatives for the beneficiaries and their families.

According to Press Information Department, Senator Khalid elaborated on BISP’s initiatives aimed at enhancing the economic empowerment of 9.3 million families currently receiving support, with plans to expand this to 10 million by the year’s end. Discussions included creating overseas job opportunities for these families and aligning BISP’s efforts with existing provincial programs. Ms. Fan expressed ADB’s commitment to supporting these endeavors and agreed on continued collaboration to finalize the sectors for skill training and a comprehensive strategy to increase awareness among deserving women.
