Islamabad: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, conducted a live e-Kachehri session aimed at addressing the concerns of beneficiaries across the country. During the one-hour and ten-minute session, 32 callers were able to directly communicate their issues to the Chairperson, who subsequently issued directives to resolve the complaints.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, a significant moment during the session was highlighted by 17-year-old Ayesha from Dera Ismail Khan. Ayesha called to inform the Chairperson that her family’s financial circumstances had improved, and they wished to be removed from the BISP beneficiary list to allow another deserving family to benefit. Senator Khalid praised the teenager’s honesty and promised to visit her family to commend their integrity.
Senator Khalid emphasized the importance of voluntary withdrawal from the program by those who no longer require assistance, which would help extend the support to additional families in need. She also advised beneficiaries to avoid unnecessary requests for inclusion surveys within a two-year period to prevent inconvenience.
The Chairperson reiterated BISP’s focus on education through its school enrollment stipend program and clarified that government employees are ineligible for the program under the revised criteria. An increase in the quarterly Kafalat cash assistance from PKR 10,500 to PKR 13,500 was announced, effective January 2025, underscoring the instruction from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari that funds be distributed with transparency.
To address grievances, beneficiaries were reminded to use the official helpline 0800-26477 and BISP number 8171. They were cautioned against sharing personal information with unauthorized contacts and encouraged to report any suspicious messages.
Concluding the session, Senator Khalid reaffirmed her commitment to addressing beneficiaries’ concerns and pledged to continue serving the underprivileged in line with the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
