Separate play grounds for special persons: Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar

Karachi, March 05, 2019 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar has said that DEPD in collaboration with Sports Department and other stakeholders will allocate play grounds for special persons in order to provide them healthy environment that will bring out their potential. This he said while talking to a delegation of a NGO Disabled Welfare Association here in his office on Monday. On this occasion Secretary DEPD Khalid Chachar, Deputy Secretary Shahzaib Shaikh, president of the Association Jawad Rais , General Secretary of the Association Shakeel Khan and other office bearers were also present.

He was informed that Disabled Welfare Association would arrange training sessions on Independent Living Centers, in which they would trained special persons belonging to remote areas of the province and they would motivate special persons to come to Karachi and to learn how to live with disabilities in decent manners because disability was their strength not weakness. Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar agreed upon that through sports the special persons could be motivated to come out their homes and participate in the games to live a normal life.

He said that it was really shocking to know that in certain rural areas the special persons were not treated well and it was the need of the hour to change mind set on the issue. The members of the Association assured the Special Assistant to CM Sindh that they would gradually extend their training programs to other districts as well and after completion of the training the special persons would be given electric wheel chairs, accessible bikes to resolve their mobility issue.

Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar said that in motivating special persons to perform their routine work, public private Partnership could play a decisive role. He said that capacity building of the special persons should be done and government was trying hard to accommodate special persons in public and private sector as well.
