Shared Digital Platforms and Labs to Propel Pakistan’s SMEs: Haroon

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are set to gain empowerment through the implementation of shared digital platforms and the establishment of accredited labs. This initiative aims to equip SMEs to meet international standards and qualify as certified suppliers within global value chains.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar Khan announced this development during a ceremony in Islamabad. He underscored Pakistan’s strategy to synchronize its diplomatic efforts with industrial advancements. In the wake of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China, the government is making strides in industrial relocation, co-development, and technology transfer. The focus is on expediting the transition from Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to operational clusters capable of delivering production-ready outputs swiftly.

Haroon Akhtar Khan also emphasized that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan has introduced its first comprehensive industrial policy. This policy is crafted to foster a competitive industrial environment, reflecting Pakistan’s goal of embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The country is shifting from traditional assembly-line production to a model centered on design-led, connected, and technology-driven manufacturing.
