Sibi: In an urgent response to recurring positive environmental samples for polio, Sibi’s local administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Jahanzeb Sheikh, convened a high-level meeting to enhance the district’s anti-polio campaign. This initiative is part of a broader effort to eradicate the virus in the region, where 16 cases have already been reported across Balochistan this year.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Deputy Commissioner Sheikh emphasized the need for meticulous execution of the vaccination strategy, attributing the persistence of the virus to lapses in vaccine coverage. The campaign aims to immunize 44,089 children in the district, employing 48 fixed sites, 22 transit teams, and 220 mobile teams to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Sheikh highlighted the critical role of local scholars in raising awareness about polio prevention during their sermons, stressing that community engagement is essential to prevent the disease and protect future generations from disability.
