SIFC Facilitates ML-1 Project to Modernize Rail Network

Islamabad: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is facilitating the ML-1 railway upgradation project to modernize Pakistan’s rail infrastructure, improve connectivity, and support industrial development. ML-1 is a key initiative to connect industrial centers with ports and modernize the country’s logistics network.

According to Radio Pakistan, the project is expected to increase rail freight capacity, improve the efficiency of the national railway network, and significantly reduce travel time between major cities. It also focuses on shifting freight from roads to rail and developing dedicated freight corridors.

The initiative will also enhance the commercial potential of ML-1, ML-2, and ML-3 while expanding freight connectivity to Attock, Quetta, Taftan, and mineral-rich areas.
