Significant Progress Being Made Towards Self-Reliance in Pakistan’s Maritime Sector

Islamabad: Significant progress is being made towards self-reliance and modernization in Pakistan’s maritime sector under the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms. The National Dredging and Marine Services (NDMS) is emerging as the foundation for self-reliance in meeting the country’s port-related requirements.

According to Radio Pakistan, NDMS is a joint initiative of the National Logistics Corporation, Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim Authority, and Gwadar Port Authority. Through NDMS, Pakistan is making progress towards achieving, for the first time, greater national self-reliance in the fields of port maintenance and dredging.

A freight corridor established with the cooperation of DP World is improving the movement of cargo at Karachi Port.
