Significant Progress Made in Balochistan Agricultural Development Under GPI

Islamabad: Significant progress has been made in agricultural development and welfare of local farmers in Balochistan under the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI).

According to Radio Pakistan, under Phase-I of the initiative, 3,800 acres of land in the regions of Dukki, Qila Saifullah, and Sibi were transformed into cultivable land. This phase also saw the installation of 144 solar-powered tube wells, which have been instrumental in enhancing irrigation and agricultural productivity.

In the subsequent Phase-II, the initiative expanded its reach by bringing an additional 8,481 acres of land under cultivation across various districts including Kohlu, Barkhan, Chaman, Nushki, Dera Bugti, Zhob, Mastung, Quetta, and Qila Saifullah. This expansion has significantly contributed to the region’s agricultural landscape.

The progress achieved through these two phases has directly benefited 288 farmers. The cultivation of wheat, cotton, and orchards on the newly developed land has not only provided local employment but also boosted agricultural production. This development plays a critical role in supporting economic self-reliance within the region.
