Islamabad: Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja has announced a simplified registration procedure for the Prime Minister’s fuel relief scheme, aiming to maximize the number of eligible beneficiaries. The announcement was made during a news conference in Islamabad, where she was joined by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik.
According to Radio Pakistan, the scheme targets users of two- and three-wheelers, as well as vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc. Beneficiaries will receive a fuel subsidy of one hundred rupees per litre. The registration process requires eligible applicants to send their CNIC number, plate number, the first letter of their province, and the vehicle’s registration date to 9771, which will complete the registration process.
Before visiting a petrol station, registered beneficiaries must send TOK to 9771 to receive a fuel relief token. The token number is necessary for obtaining subsidized fuel at the station.
The Information Minister emphasized the scheme’s focus on alleviating the burden on deserving segments of society amid current challenges. Efforts will be made to increase awareness about the scheme, alongside implementing austerity measures.
Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that the government will allocate twenty-five billion rupees per month to the fuel relief scheme, highlighting efforts to support vulnerable communities despite limited resources.
