Sindh Chief Minister Promises to Address Industrial Sector Concerns, Discusses Tax Reduction with Pakistan Business Council

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, in a meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council led by Shabbir Dewan, committed to prioritizing the resolution of industrialists’ issues through provincial and federal government cooperation. Participants included Provincial Minister for Industries Jam Akram Dharijo, several key secretaries, and PBC members such as Zilaf Munir and Arif Habib.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting focused on enhancing the industrial sector by promoting trade, increasing employment, and attracting new investments with improved facilities. The PBC proposed a reduction in the infrastructure tax from 1.8% to 1.2%, which the Chief Minister agreed to consider. Concerns were raised about the recent hike in electricity prices and its adverse effects on industry, prompting discussions on potential relief measures, including a special electricity discount for night-shift industries to boost production and job creation.

The Chief Minister and PBC officials plan to reconvene to further address these issues and explore practical solutions to support economic growth and industrial development in Sindh.
