Sindh Senior Minister for Education and Literacy presides over Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority Board of Governors’ meeting

Karachi, November 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority (STEDA) Board of Governors gives assent to appoint the Rafiq Ahmed Buriro Chairman Sindh Text Book Board as acting executive director of (STEDA) till the permanent appointment of executive director and constituted finance and budget and Human Resource committees for the Board.

According to hand out issued here on Wednesday the Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority (STEDA) Board of Governors meeting was held here on Wednesday presided by Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, while Additional Chief Secretary Education Dr. Fazlullah Pechuho, Chairman Sindh Text Book Board Jamshoro Rafiq Ahmed Buriro, Ex. Vice Chancellor Sindh University Jamshoro Mazhar-ul Haq Siddiqui, Secretary Board of Trustees SZABIST Dr. Suleman Shaikh, Director Agha Khan University Dr. Muhammad Memon, Chairman Board of Intermediate Karachi Professor Anwar Ahmed Zai, Director Indus Resource Centre Dr. Sadiqa Salahuddin , Director IBA Sukkur Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui and other members of the STEDA Board of Governors attended the meeting.

STEDA Board of Governors after long discussion agreed that there is need to re visit the rules of STEDA and STEDA Board of Governors gives assent to appoint the Rafiq Ahmed Buriro Chairman Sindh Text Book Board as acting executive director of (STEDA) till the permanent appointment of executive director.

Board also decided that permanent executive director of the STEDA board will be appointed through advertisement and acting executive director of the board will advertise the post of permanent ex-director STEDA.

According to the STEDA act passed by Sindh Assembly the executive Director of STEDA shall be appointed for the period of four years and shall be eligible for reappointment for another term of four years, on the basis of his performance and he will be an eminent professional of known integrity and competence having experience of public or private sector management especially in the context of managing human resources, financial management, program implementation and may additionally have technical understanding of teacher education development and educational accreditation and quality assurance procedures.

STEDA board of Governors after consensus constituted three members Human Resource Committee headed by Ex. Vice Chancellor Sindh University Jamshoro Mazhar-ul Haq Siddiqui and Director Agha Khan University Dr. Muhammad Memon, Chairman Board of Intermediate Karachi Professor Anwar Ahmed Zai will be the members of the HR Committee of the board.

HR Committee will re visit the draft STEDA rules to ensure the conformity with STEDA act and will work out organizational setup for efficient performance of STEDA.

STEDA Board also constituted Financial and budget Committee comprising on three members headed by Secretary Board of Trustees SZABIST Karachi Dr. Suleman Shaikh, DG PIET and Director Indus Resource Centre Dr. Sadiqa Salahuddin will be members of the Committee. The Committee will recommend the budget proposals for the next financial year to the STEDA BOG for approval.

STEDA BOG decided that private audit firm will be hired through advertisement and after that auditor of the selected firm will audit the accounts of STEDA.

Meeting was decided that STEDA next BOG meeting will be held on 5th December. Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that STEDA will play its role for training, educational development and enhancement of the professional capacities of teachers.
