South Kashmir shuts to mourn killing of Zakir Musa

Srinagar, May 27, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, shutdown is being observed in most of South Kashmir districts on fourth consecutive day against the killing of mujahid commander, Zakir Musa. Normal activities remain paralyzed in most of the districts of South Kashmir on Monday as people are observing a complete shutdown to mourn the death of Zakir Musa.

Shops and other business establishments are closed while government offices witness thin attendance with roads wearing a deserted look. Scores of people visited the home of martyred commander in Noorpora area to express condolences with his family members.

The authorities had announced the closure of many educational institutions across Kashmir, as a precautionary measure. Contingents of police and paramilitary troopers are deployed in sensitive areas including Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, Tral and Islamabad.

Mobile Internet service in many parts of South Kashmir districts also remained suspended on the fourth consecutive day. The authorities also suspended train service across Kashmir for security reasons. Zakir Musa was killed by forces in a gunfight on Friday in Dadsara village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
