Spotify Reports Strong Growth in Second Quarter 2025

Stockholm: Spotify has announced substantial growth in its subscriber base and monthly active users for the second quarter of 2025. The company reported a more than 30% increase in net subscriber additions in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2024, marking the quarter as their second-best Q2 performance in terms of monthly active user growth.

The number of premium users rose by 12% year-over-year, reaching 276 million. Monthly active users saw an 11% increase, totaling 696 million.

Spotify’s total revenue grew by 10% over the previous year, amounting to 4.2 billion euros. The gross margin increased by 227 basis points compared to last year, reaching 31.5%. The operating income stood at 406 million euros.

In a statement, Daniel Ek, Spotify’s founder and CEO, emphasized the platform’s commitment to evolving and creating value for nearly 700 million users. Ek noted that this growth not only benefits users but also attracts more people to streaming, subsequently strengthening the entire industry for music, podcasts, and audiobooks.
