Sri Lanka ready to help Pakistani Businessman B2B meeting with Sri Lankan businessman: G.L. Gantateva

Karachi, November 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): Consul General of Sri Lanka, H.E G.L. Genantheva has said that Sri Lanka wants to expand its trade and economic relation with Pakistan and exchange of trade delegation and exhibition has increased the volume of trade between both countries. Speaking at the meeting on the visit in Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Association with members of the Association. PCDMA Chairman and Ex Director of Pakistan Stock Exchange Mr. Ameen Yousuf Balgamwala. Vice Chairman Mr. Asif Ebrahim, Ex Chairman Mr. Arif Balgamwala, Mr Nasir Fateh Kukda, Mr. Arif Kapoor and senior member Mr. Rafique Memon were also present in the meeting.

The Consul General agreed to the proposal of the Chairman PCDMA to form a trade delegation to visit Sri Lanka and make B2B meeting with Business man in Sri Lanka and give help in introduction of Pakistani Products in Sri Lanka. On issue of Visa on arrival, he suggested that the issue discuss with Government level so that the visa can be issue on arrival.

PCDMA Chairman and Ex Director of Pakistan Stock Exchange Mr. Ameen Yousuf Balgamwala welcomed the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Association and has detailed discussion of bilateral trade between two countries and give suggestion to increase volume of trade and asked for abolish of Quota on agro based product i.e. rice, potatoes and sugar and asked for permission to export these products on the basis of their requirements.

He further said that Sri Lanka has duty free access to export to Europe including America and Pakistani businessman can take benefit by export their product to Sri Lanka and then re-export to other European countries including America. He said that Sri Lanka is the first country who signed FTA with Pakistan in 2005 and Pakistan has more exports as compared to Imports from Sri Lanka. He also suggested to Consul General to issue visa on arrival to Pakistani Business man and exchange of trade delegation.
