Srinagar-Jammu Highway Closed for Unspecified Reasons

Jammu, The Srinagar-Jammu highway, a critical arterial route connecting the region to the rest of India, will be closed to all vehicular traffic today for reasons not disclosed by the authorities.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision to suspend traffic along the highway was announced without specifying the underlying reasons. Key checkpoints including Nagrota in Jammu, Udhampur, and Qazigund will be affected by the closure. This decision impacts all vehicles, including those carrying perishable goods and security forces, which are generally given priority during road closures.

The traffic department issued advisories halting all movement towards major destinations such as Kashmir, Patnitop, and Doda regions as early as Monday evening, effectively cutting off the region’s main surface link to the outside world temporarily.
