Standing Committee on Human Rights Addresses Child Welfare Concerns

ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee on Human Rights convened at Parliament House in Islamabad under the leadership of Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza, MNA, to discuss pressing issues related to child welfare and drug abuse in educational institutions. The committee called for urgent action to address the growing problems of child begging, abuse, and drug proliferation in both private and government schools.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the committee expressed serious concerns about these social issues and instructed the Ministry of Human Rights and the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) to implement effective measures to combat them. The committee emphasized the necessity for new legislation and the enforcement of existing laws to safeguard children’s rights. It also urged the Ministry of Human Rights to propose ways to strengthen the NCRC to ensure child protection is effectively realized.
