Karachi: The stock market witnessed a slight uptick in key indices despite a notable decrease in trading volumes, according to the latest figures released by the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The KSE100 index closed at 158,183.95 points, marking an increase of 313.44 points or 0.20 percent from the previous session. The KSE30 index also rose by 47.49 points, settling at 47,890.56, representing a 0.10 percent gain.
During the trading session, the KSE100 index fluctuated between a high of 159,516.41 points and a low of 157,203.55 points. Meanwhile, the KSE30 index reached a peak of 48,375.00 points and a low of 47,554.35 points.
Despite the gains in indices, market turnover experienced a decline. The regular market saw a turnover of 757,241,348 shares, down from 836,425,654 shares in the previous session. The traded value also decreased, with the current figure standing at 33,413,308,549, compared to 38,076,967,106 previously.
Market capitalization witnessed a minor dip, recording 18,067,014,614,824, down from 18,079,958,077,501. In the futures market, both turnover and traded value saw reductions. The futures turnover was 151,296,500 shares, with a traded value of 8,150,116,460, compared to 179,940,500 shares and 10,241,111,265 previously.
Overall, while the indices showed modest gains, the decline in trading activity reflected a cautious sentiment among investors.
