Stonefall in Upper Kohistan Claims Four Lives on Bus Journey from Rawalpindi to Gilgit Baltistan

Upper Kohistan: A tragic incident occurred on the morning of September 2, 2024, when stones fell on a bus traveling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit Baltistan, resulting in the death of four passengers, authorities reported.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the bus was en route through Upper Kohistan when it was struck by falling stones. The casualties in this unfortunate event include Hafiz Imtiaz Hussain from Gilgit Baltistan, Sangle Hussain, son of Nazeer Khan from Yasin Ghizar in Gilgit Baltistan, Sultan Muhammad, son of Abdul Hafeez from Rawalpindi, and Dilshad Qamar, son of Sham ul Qamar also from Rawalpindi.

The PDMA is currently coordinating response efforts and further investigations into the incident to ensure the safety of this route and prevent such occurrences in the future.
