Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has termed the verdict regarding former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed as a victory of truth and justice. In a statement, he said the person who crossed the red line has been punished today. He added that former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was given full opportunity to defend himself in the trial and the verdict announced against him was based on evidence.
According to Radio Pakistan, a verdict based on justice has been given following the recording of statements of all the witnesses and presenting the evidence. The Information Minister said Faiz Hameed was found guilty of all the charges and he was also convicted in the Top City Case.
Attaullah Tarar stressed that no one is above the law. He said the process of self-accountability in the army is very strong, and its clear example has been seen by everyone. The Minister said Faiz Hameed misused his authority. He said Faiz Hameed was the political advisor of PTI and further investigations into political matters will be conducted.
