Srinagar: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir has raised alarm over the ongoing illegal detention of more than 5,000 Kashmiris, including prominent Hurriyat leaders and activists, urging international human rights organizations to intervene for their immediate release.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the group issued a statement expressing concern about the dire conditions faced by detainees in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and in Indian jails. The statement highlighted that many of the detainees are deprived of essential medical care and basic facilities, with their health deteriorating dangerously.
Tehreek-e-Hurriyat reiterated that India has been employing severe tactics to suppress the Kashmiri people’s demand for self-determination for the past 77 years. Despite these ongoing challenges, the group reaffirmed that the Kashmiri people will not abandon their struggle for freedom.
The organization called on international human rights bodies to take urgent action to address the plight of Kashmiri detainees and work towards securing their release.
