The Economist Lauds Field Marshal Asim Munir’s Effort in Improving Pak-US Ties

Islamabad: The Economist in its article has appreciated Field Marshal Asim Munir’s effort in improving Pakistan-US relations.

According to Radio Pakistan, Asim Munir is giving a new direction to the US-Pakistan relations. The British weekly noted that Asim Munir’s private meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House marked the beginning of a diplomatic shift in the region. President Trump imposed a twenty-five percent tariff on India, labeling it a dead economy, while announcing a trade agreement with Pakistan imposed a nineteen percent tariff only.

According to the Economist, close circles of President Trump are showing interest in investing in Pakistan’s crypto and mining sectors. Washington is now working to resume arms trade and counter-terrorism cooperation with Islamabad. The US is considering supplying armored vehicles and night vision gear. US policymakers are reviewing India’s subversive activities.

The British weekly further noted that Field Marshal Asim Munir has maintained balanced relations with China and the Gulf countries. Following the conflict with India, Field Marshal’s popularity has increased.
