“The responsibility lies on shoulders of columnists to create unity at national level and project positive image of Pakistan”, said by Mushahidullah Khan

Islamabad, June 16, 2015 (PPI-OT): “A column cannot spread awareness until based on knowledge and research”, said by Federal Minister for Climate change while addressing the seminar on National Column writing organized by Columnist council of Pakistan with the collaboration of Daily Tareekh International ,organized at Sir Syed Memorial.

He further highlighted that importance of columns cannot be denied. However a well written column explains whole world in few sentences. The job of columnist to analyze the situation and depict the true picture. They are torch bearers for public.

He emphasized the columnists should promote and transfer our values to coming generations and always project soft image of Pakistan. We have got best talent in every field. Every country has many problems but their media do not highlight their negative image. He also talked about the fact that column reading trend has been reduced. Now young columnists have to revive this trend with the advice of their seniors. The columnists should play their role to address the problems of Pakistan in positive manner.

Other participants also addressed the audience which Iftikhar Bhutta, Mazhar Barlas, Dr. Ghazi Alvi, M.A Tabassum. They suggested young columnists to write their columns on facts and check again all relevant information .The columnists should take care of repute and sacredness of column writing and consider themselves accountable as well.

Columnist Council of Pakistan was created in 2012 to facilitate the young columnist and address their problems. The president of PPC is Muhammad Tabassum, Chairman Dr. Ghazi Alvi and General Secretary is Faisal Alvi. The CCP is forum where all columnists can unite for their rights. The CCP will announce scholarships and shields for young columnists for their encouragement. It will also work to establish housing schemes for columnists.
