Tragic incident at diamer shocked the entire nation, culprits shall be brought to book: Minister

Islamabad, July 01, 2013 (PPI-OT): Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Ch. Muhammad Berjees Tahir today visited Embassies of the countries that victims of Diamer incident belonged. He first visited the Chinese Embassy and condoled with the Ambassador Sun Weidong who thanked the Minister for the kind feelings expressed for the victims.

He termed the incident a shocking tragedy and condemned the ghastly attack on the climbers. He praised the role of Pakistan Government saying effective measures were taken to rescue, the Chinese tourist who survived the attack. He also appreciated the steps taken to send bodies back to aggrieved families in China. The Minister recorded his comments in the condolence book.

Thereafter the Minister proceeded to the Nepal High Commission to convey his feelings to the High Commissioner. He told the High Commissioner that Prime Minister had especially asked him to go and share these sad moments. Pakistan, he said is prepared to extend all kind of cooperation to the families of the deceased. The High Commissioner told the Minister that victim belonged to a very famous mountain climbers tribe and at a tender age he had scaled K-2 and Mount Everest four times each.

Later, the Ukraine Ambassador while receiving the Minister thanked him for visiting the Embassy and sharing his sympathies with Ukrainian people on the sad demise of the climbers. He said nobody even had the slightest of idea that such a mishap could happen. The Minister said the terrorist incidents were the aftermath of war on terror and we shall not surrender against terrorism. He further resolved that such heinous acts shall not effect our bilateral relations. He also wrote his comments in the condolence book.
